Who this covers
This policy applies to the SwiftNZB app for iPhone and iPad, published by Valentin Lehmann (the “developer”). SwiftNZB is a generic NNTP (Usenet) protocol client: you bring your own Usenet server and your own NZB files. It ships with no indexers and no content.
Data we collect
None. The developer does not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal data. There is no telemetry, no analytics SDK, no advertising, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party code that phones home.
Data the app stores on your device
Everything the app saves stays under your control:
- Server settings (host name, port, username, connection and speed limits, and other preferences) are stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, they sync through your personal iCloud key-value store so your other devices match.
- Usenet passwords are stored in the device Keychain. If you turn on iCloud Keychain, iOS may sync them across your devices. iCloud and iCloud Keychain are Apple services under your control — the developer has no access to them.
- NZB files you import and the files you download stay on your device (in the app and the Files app). They are never uploaded anywhere by the app.
- Download queue and history (names, sizes, progress, timestamps) are kept locally so the app can resume and show your activity.
- How many free downloads you have used stays on your device. If you have iCloud enabled it also syncs through your personal iCloud, so every device you own shows the same count.
Purchases
You buy SwiftNZB Pro through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, so the developer never sees your name, your card details, or your Apple Account.
The app asks the App Store whether this device has Pro, and stores that answer on your device. If you installed SwiftNZB before it had a purchase, the app records that once so Pro stays unlocked. That record lives on your device, and in your iCloud Keychain if you use it. The app sends no purchase or usage data anywhere, and there is no developer server to send it to. Apple reports only aggregate sales figures to the developer, and those contain nothing that identifies you.
Network connections
- The app connects to the Usenet server(s) you configure. Your username and password are sent only to that server, and only to authenticate you with it (the standard NNTP login). They are never sent to the developer or any third party.
- If iCloud is enabled, the app uses Apple iCloud to sync your own settings between your devices, as described above.
- There are no other network connections. No data goes to the developer or to any analytics, advertising, or tracking service.
System APIs we use
For transparency, SwiftNZB uses a few iOS “required-reason” APIs purely for local functionality — never for tracking: user defaults (to save your settings), file timestamps (to show a file’s size and date), and available disk space (to warn you before a large download). This matches the app’s bundled privacy manifest.
Children’s privacy
SwiftNZB is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Retention and deletion
Because all data is stored locally (and, optionally, in your own iCloud), you control its lifetime. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. Data synced via iCloud or iCloud Keychain can be managed or removed from your device’s iCloud settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
